Some great staff and great food. Friendly and comfortable even if not 5 star.
Cleaners were often unhelpful and seemed to clean at busy times like 7 to 8 in the morning and around 10 at night.
The atmosphere is good. A good choice if you like backpacker-style places but it's definitely not for eveyone. Mainly young people travelling in groups stay there. Contrary to many opinions I didn't find the place 'hippy' at all, it's a typical backpacker hangout, which reminded me of some places in Asia. Good for meeting people, exchanging stories and so on. Really nice location, in a subtropical garden by a lake. And I didn't think it's far away from the town - under 10 minutes' walk...We stayed in a 'luxury' tent, which we really liked (BTW. 'luxury' is an overstatement but we got what we expected: a robust, roomy tent with a double bed). I would definitely recommend this place although only to young (at heart) people who don't expect luxuries
Good location and friendly staff and the place had some good vibes to it - very hippified! Nice and close to the fabled Nimbin which is a defiante High Light :) It's about a 15 min walk in Byron Bay - they have lots of free stuff for those that want to take part too and a bar and restaurant on site too.
The only real down side was the room was like a prison cell. But it was quite comfortable so not really a massive dislike.
I liked the all women option at the pond side house; all the people staying there were great.
The bathroom at the lakeside house is in serious need of renovations - there's water pretty much leaking everywhere. It could use a good clean as well. No offense! I did enjoy my stay.
Beatiful place, fun people, great atmasfear and rooms.
the outdoor area
I didn't like the room and didn't like the showers
The price is way too high, for an extra few dollars you can get a proper room in a motel. The double room looks like someone threw a bed into a cave. Our car was damaged in the car park, it looks like somebody walked over it.
The double room was disgusting, literally a box room without windows with a bed thrown in there
One of the best back packers ever!
Their full Monty breakfast was to big to eat and only cost $10 what more can I say!
Loved the relaxed atmosphere, and everyone just doing their own thing, friendly and welcoming, definitely will stay again
Completely different from anywhere I have ever stayed. It had personality and a great environment, on site pub, live music and just great atmoshpere.
Really nice vibe, nestled in the bush, with wild bush turkeys roaming the grounds in the morning. Bright and vibrant decor, with fun activities available.
It was a bit noisy fairly late into the night, but I managed to sleep all the same, so that's not really a complaint
Easy to get in and out of , bus was good to get to town, lay back easy to relax .Took my older daughter she was in a share room with other girls said it was good not to noisy etc , i had a tent with a double bed in it which was great , was quite and easy to sleep and the little verandah was good.
There is a local brewery with some really good beer and food close by.
I had my worse night in Australia in this hostel. People were up all night and screaming, running around, smoking, loud music from the hostels speakers. It was so noisy it felt like the walls and ceiling would cave in. It stopped 6am, I'm not joking. I had a better sleep on the bus from Byron bay than in my overly priced dirty double room. When reading about on Booked.net I did not at all expect this!
The différent activities (yoga, didgeridoo, gardening...), very colorful area, peaceful, but may be noisy on the evenings, nice little gigs from some of the residents.... Over all, one of the best hostel I've been to!
Noise, sometimes. And a breakfast included would have been nice, for that price.
It was a great place to stay and the staff were friendly and courteous and there was everything one needed I.E. atm, internet, food, free shuttle buses! Excellent value! We did however not have our bathroom and room cleaned for three days, thus there was no toilet paper for two days. Despite 3 other non-australian backpackers letting the reception know, nothing actually happened to resolve this, until I (who am an Australian), went and told the reception. There was a young man on duty at the time who I hadn't seen before. I have a feeling his name was Ryan. He immediately responded to this and came straight down with toilet paper, and even cleaned the bathroom quickly which was very much appreciated. He also told me he had put it down in the book for the cleaners that this room and bathroom needs to be cleaned the next day. I understand it is cheap accommodation, however it would be great if the bathrooms were bleached to get rid of some of the mold, and make it more sanitary. It would also have been great to have a few more cups and plates in the dormitory kitchen, although I understand perhaps you don't include this in the price. I had a wonderful stay however and enjoyed myself thoroughly and as I said the staff were lovely and friendly. I would definitely stay there again! Cheers Jayne
